Tuesday’s Hot Ticket: Diggers, Dogs, Maroons

College volleyball
Frontier Conference playoffs: Montana Western at Montana Tech, 7 p.m.

The Orediggers and Bulldogs put the season on the line when they meet in the quarterfinal match at the HPER Complex.

Tech enters the postseason at 8-10, while Western comes to town at 3-15. The Orediggers swept the Bulldogs Feb. 19-20 in Butte. Tech won 3-1 and 3-2 in those two matches.

The Orediggers saw their March 26-27 matches at Montana Western canceled because of COVID-19 concerns. The Orediggers are entering the playoffs on a high note after sweeping Carroll College last Thursday and Friday.

Carroll hosts MSU-Northern in Tuesday’s other match. The University of Providence and Rocky Mountain College have first-round byes and will host semifinal matches on Thursday.

Butte High at Helena High, 3:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs open the season with a dual against Helena High at Vigilante Stadium.

Butte High will be at home Friday in a meet with Kalispell Glacier and Butte Central. Click here for a preview of the Bulldog season.

Prep softball
Livingston at Butte Central, 3 p.m.

The Maroons (0-2) look for their first win of the season when they welcome the Rangers to Stodden Park Field 2 for their season opener.

BC has not played since dropping non-conference games to Polson and Columbia Falls March 27 in Polson.
