Missoula Sentinel at Butte High
The Bulldogs get a second crack at the Spartans, this time at the Jeremy Bullock Complex. The girls play at 3 p.m., and the boys’ follow at 5.
Sentinel’s girls topped Butte High 6-0 when the teams met Sept. 1 in Missoula. Sentinel won the boys’ match 7-2. Both Butte High head coaches came away from the losses feeling confident they can compete with the Spartans in Round 2.
The doubleheader is the first of two at home for the Bulldogs this week. On Thursday, Butte High hosts Missoula Big Sky.
Missoula Big Sky at Butte High, 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs will play on their home court for just the second time this season when Missoula Big Sky comes to town for a meeting of 1-3 Western AA teams.
Butte High picked up its first win of the season Saturday, knocking off Kalispell Flathead 3-1 on the road. That match came just after the Bulldogs fell in three to Kalispell Glacier. Big Sky fell to Helena High and Helena Capital last week.
The Bulldogs will play host to Missoula Sentinel on Thursday.
Montana Tech at Carroll College Invitational, noon
The Oredigger men will go for their second tournament win in as many weeks when they head Helena for the tournament on the Bill Roberts Golf Course.
Tech senior Trey Hoagland was named the Frontier Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week Monday after winning last week’s Montana Tech Invitational at the Butte Country Club. Hoagland shot a 6-under-par 64 for the win.
Tech’s women also showed promising signs in the season-opening tournament.
Spectators will not be allowed at the Carroll tournament, which was shortened to 18 holes for the men and women.
