Top 10 meet in Missoula, 3 p.m.
A handful of Butte athletes will compete against the best in the state — all classes. Butte High’s Erika McLeod (400 and long jump) will compete in two individual events. She’ll also compete in both relay events for the Bulldogs. Sammy McGree, Carlie Haeffner and Hailey Hoagland will join McLeod in the short relay. Hoagland, Haeffner and Mariah Richardson will run with her in the 1,600-meter relay. McGree (200), Richardson (800), Faupel (javelin), Haeffner (high jump) will also compete in individual events. Butte Central’s Mariah Cooney will compete in the javelin and long jump.
On the boys’ side, Butte High’s Dalton Daum will run in the 100, 200 and 400 relay, where he’ll run the final leg behind Jake Eisenbarth, Zach Bunney and Bo Taylor. Bunney will run the 100, Taylor will race in the 200, while Kaedan Caprara will compete in the 300 hurdles. Kyle Christie (pole vault) Jake Denney (discus) and Anthony Moritz (shot put) will compete for the Bulldogs. Connor McGree (long jump) will make the trip for Butte Central. Complete meet lineup.
Anaconda at Butte Central, 4 p.m.
The Maroons (2-2, 2-0) were snowed out yesterday. They’ll try again today to jump back Southwestern A play when the Copperheads come to Copper Mountain Park. Butte Central is trying to snap a two-game losing streak. Both those losses were non-conference games. BC will send freshman Teresa Piazzola (2-1) to the pitchers’ circle for the conference tilt. The Copperheads will counter with ace Brooke Chapman.
Butte Central vs. Havre and Lewistown in Great Falls, 8:30 a.m.
The BC boys look to keep their stellar season going when they take on the Blue Ponies and Golden Eagles. The Maroons beat Hamilton 6-1 and Stevensville 7-0 Saturday in Butte. The Maroons also had an improved day in girls play on Saturday.
