HAMILTON — Butte Central sophomore Tricia Joyce proved last year’s Western A Divisional title was not a fluke Saturday.

Joyce carded an 80 at the Hamilton Country Club for an 11-shot victory, defending her title at the divisional tournament.

The second straight title for Joyce came on a day when the Butte Central boys’ golf team qualified everybody for state by placing third in team standings.

Hamilton shot 319 to take the team title. Polson was second at 326, followed by BC at 369 and Whitefish at 373.

The top four teams and top 15 individual qualify for the Class A State tournament, which is next Thursday and Friday in Hamilton.

Hamilton’s Max Toenjes won the individual crown with a 73. Teammate Ky Burch took second at 77.

Cameron Johnson hit 92, which was good for a tie for 14th place. Also for the BC boys, Brian Arnold shot 93, Gator Yelenich hit 101 and Dan McCloskey shot 111.

Joyce, the runner up at last year’s Class A State tournament, shot a 40 on each nine to take the title. Courtney Ockler of Frenchtown placed second at 91, followed by Gracie Young of Whitefish at 94.

Whitefish won the team tile at 409 Dillon placed second at 432, while Polson took third at 458 and Hamilton placed fourth at 472.
