GREGSON — The Townsend girls and Columbus boys claimed titles Wednesday at the Class C State golf tournament at the Fairmont Hot Springs Golf Course.
Columbus matched Tuesday’s first round 314 for a 628 total and a 10-shot win over second-place Missoula Loyola, which shot a 324 on Wednesday.
Columbus’ Phillip Holten shot a second-round 74 for a 1-over-par 145 total. He beat Loyola’s Tommy Tirrell by three shots.
On the girls’ side, defending champion Townsend improved 11 shots from the first round for a 361 and a runaway victory. The Bulldogs’ winning total of 733 was 63 shots better second-place Missoula Loyola’s 769.
Townsend’s Bailee Dexter shot a final-round 76 for a 158 total. She beat Loyola’s Sadie Crippen, who shot an 80, by four shots. Dexter and Crippen led with an 82 after the first round.
