Mining City shoots for Sasquatch sweep Thursday night
The Mining City Tommyknockers are officially on a roll.
Butte’s Expedition League baseball team won its fourth straight game Wednesday night, beating the Spearfish Sasquatch 10-6 on Miners Field at 3 Legends Stadium. (Boxscore)
Carter Dobrinski and Jake Mastillo each hit a home run and a double to lead the Knockers, who wore their jerseys with “Butte” written on the first for the first time in front of the home crowd.
Mastillo’s big fly was his first of the season. It led off the bottom of the third inning, extending the Mining City’s lead to 5-2. The Butte club scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead for good.
Dobrinski hit his fourth blast of the season, a two-run shot, in the sixth.
The Tommyknockers, who sit atop the Lewis Division, outhit the Sasquatch 16-13.
Dobrinski smacked four hits and drove in three runs. Mastillo smacked three hits, running his batting average to .438, and joined Nick Hansen with two RBIs. Hansen and Hayden Brown each had a two-hit game.
Hansen and Matt Krieger tripled, and Judah Wilbur doubled.
Ryan Jacobs pitched four and a third innings of relief to get the win as the Tommyknockers improved to 13-6 on the season.
Seth Surrett doubled in a 3-for-4 game to lead the Sasquatch, who fell to 12-6. Theo Hardy and Cade Stuff each hit a double and a single, while Matt Crossley hit two singles. Ben Parker added a double.
The Tommyknockers will go for the three-game sweep when the teams meet again at 7:05 p.m. Thursday. The Mining City welcomes the Casper Horseheads for a three-game set starting Friday.
