CASPER, Wyo. — The Mining City Tommyknockers edged the Casper Horseheads for a 9-8 Expedition League victory Friday night at Mike Lansing Field. (Boxscore)
The Knockers scored all nine runs over the final two innings. Jake Mastillo hit a two-run triple and Hayden Brown added a two-round double to highlight a five-run eighth inning. The Butte club added four more in the ninth, and they needed it as the Horseheads scored four in the eighth and two in the ninth.
Carter Dobrinski drew a bases-loaded walk in the ninth. The Tommyknockers added two more runs on an error and one on a wild pitch.
Seth Lucero hit a triple and a single in the victory for the Tommyknockers. Miles Hartsfield doubled, and Dobrinski drove in two runs.
Kyle Wellman pitched six strong innings for the Tommyknockers, but Dylan Wilhelm picked up the win in relief. Connor Phelan got one out for the save.
Kyler Halverson, Eric Erato and J.J. Gerarden each poked three hits to lead the Horseheads.
The teams will play Game 2 of the three-game series Saturday night.
