Tommyknockers blanked as losing streak reaches six

DICKINSON, N.D. — The Mining City Tommyknockers are in real need a rain out.

Butte’s Expedition League baseball team saw its losing streak reach six games Saturday night with a 7-0 loss to the Badlands Big Sticks at the Community Bank & Trust Ballpark. (Boxscore)

The loss drops the Knockers, who were in first place early last week, to 14-14 on the season.

The Big Sticks used four home runs to take down the Tommyknockers. Joe Osborn, Carson Lundmark, Travis Ray Jr. and Alex Thurston hit big flies in the win. Parker Stohr scattered four hits over six innings for the win. He fanned nine Tommyknockers.

Missoula’s Drew Leonard started and went five innings for a bounce-back performance. However, he got no run support and took the loss.

Carter Dobrinski hit a pair of doubles to lead the Tommyknocker offense. Miles Hartsfield, Justin Greene and Jake Mastillo each added a single.

The Tommyknockers will try to avoid the sweep when they face the Big Sticks again Friday. After a day off Monday, the Tommyknockers will start a six-game home stand as the Canyon County Spuds come to town on Tuesday.
