Tommyknockers add infielder from Denver

The Mining City Tommyknockers Baseball Club announced Thursday the signing of infielder with NJCAA and summer collegiate baseball experience.

Denver native Seth Lucero will join the Tommyknockers after hitting .267 as a freshman for the NJCAA Southeast Community College of Nebraska. That includes a .500 average. He is currently playing at Dawson Community College.

Lucero is a player who can also pitch in addition to playing the infield.

The former Denver North High player competed in the Northwoods League in the past.

“I’m extremely excited to be a part of bringing summer ball to the town of Butte,” Lucero said in a statement. “We are fortunate to be able to play this summer with everything going on. I can’t wait to get out there and play in front of all the amazing fans and get on that field with my teammates.”

Tommyknockers manager Tom Carty said Lucero is a strong addition to the team.

“Seth is a (lefthanded hitting middle infielder), which are hard to come by in the summer collegiate circuit,” Carty said. “He has some past high level college summer ball experience”.

The Tommyknockers, an Expedition League expansion team, will play their inaugural season in Butte’s 3 Legends Stadium.
