Jake Mastillo is the newest members of the Mining City Tommyknockers.
The catcher/third baseman from Lock Haven University signed to play for the Butte Expedition League team, the Tommyknockers announced Tuesday night.
Mastillo is a native of Scranton, Pennsylvania who attended North Pocono High School, where he graguated in 2018.
He started all 10 games he appeared in for Lock Haven University in 2020. He scored five runs and drove in seven with a .308 batting average. In high school, Mastillo was an All-District, All-Conference and North Pocono pre-season All-American.
“I am extremely excited to come play in the beautiful city of Butte-Silver Bow,” Mastillo said in a statement. “I am also very grateful for the opportunity to play under (manager) Tom Carty. I am very excited to spend my summer in the stunning state of Montana. I am very blessed for the opportunity to wear a Tommyknockers Jersey.”
McCarty said Mastillo will bring a lot to the team.
“Jake brings some versatility as a catcher and corner infield/outfielder,” the manager said. “He brings a great feel for hitting with contact and shows power from the Right side.”
