A host of area teams including Butte High and host Butte Central are scheduled to be on hand for Saturday’s John Tomich Memorial Track and Field Meet at Charlie Merrifield Track at the Gene Fogarty Athletic Complex.
Boasting their best team numbers in years, the Maroons look to be competitive team-wise in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions.
Butte Central’s girls are led by sophomore Rachel McGree who won the 100 hurdles last Tuesday at the Top-10 meet in Missoula, edging Dillon senior Holly Anderson in the process. The pair will likely square off again on Saturday. McGree also set her season-best mark in the triple jump at 34-7.
The Maroon boys’ team is headed up by a solid senior class including weightmen Marcus Ferriter and Kaemen Richards, javelin specialist Danny Peoples, jumper Michael Cooney and distance man Conor McGee.
The meet will set up another 100-meter showdown between Central junior Kyle Harrington and Butte High speedster Dalton Daum. Harrington is joined on the Maroon sprint relay team by Cole Harper, Tanner Kump and Blake Burton.
Events are set to get under way at 10 a.m.
