Timely Bulldog home runs salvage split with Broncs

BILLINGS — Butte High got a pair of clutch home runs from MacKenzie Tutty and Taylor Huff to salvage a split with Billings Senior Friday.

Tutty hit a game-tying grand slam in the top of the seventh, and Huff belted a three-run jack in the eighth to lead the Bulldogs to a 13-11 victory in the night cap.

Senior, though, won the most important game, taking the opener 6-3. Only the first game counted in Eastern AA Standings.

Butte High pounded 21 hits in the two games, and four Bulldogs hit their first home run of the season. Jenna Maroney, Kaidy McClafferty and Brittney Tierney also went yard for the Bulldogs. Huff’s blast was her second of the season.

The Bulldogs (4-2 overall, 0-1 in conference) will stay in Billings to take on West in an 11 a.m. Saturday doubleheader. Both contests are conference games.

The Bulldogs were an eyelash away from being swept when Tutty came through in storybook fashion.

Huff deposited an 0-1 pitch over the fence for the game-winning shot that scored Maroney and Tierney. That home run came with one out.
