Thursday’s Hot Ticket: Oredigger hoops

Women’s college basketball
MSU-Northern at Montana Tech, 5:30 p.m.

The women open the Frontier Conference twin bill as the Orediggers play at home for the first time in nearly two weeks.

The Orediggers (12-12, 2-10) and Skylights (15-9, 4-8) split their first two meetings of the season. Northern won 75-73 Jan. 18 in Butte, and the Orediggers won 62-55 Feb. 1 in Havre.

Tavia Rooney and Kaylee Zard scored 13 points to lead the Orediggers last time out. Rooney, who leads the Frontier with an average of 10.7 rebounds per game, also pulled down 13 boards. Mesa Williams scored 12 points.

Peyton Kehr’s 16 points led the Skylights, who got 10 points apiece from Kenya Lorton and Sydney Hovde.

Men’s college basketball

The Orediggers (14-9, 6-6) look to take the rubber match with Northern (15-9, 5-7) in the nightcap.

Tech beat Northern 75-64 Jan. 18 in Butte. Northern bounced back to top the Orediggers 57-50 two weeks later in Havre.

Kavon Bey’s 17 points paced Northern in the last meeting. Mascio McCadney and David Harris each scored 13 points. Taylor England led the Orediggers with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Derrius Collins and Sindou Diallo each scored 10, and Dylan Pannabecker netted nine.

The Orediggers will play host to the University of Providence on Saturday.
