Thursday’s Hot Ticket: Dillon vs. BC, Tech vs. L-C

Boys’ prep basketball
Butte Central at Dillon, 6 p.m.

The boys’ game opens the twin bill at the B.W. Lodge Gymnasium.

The Maroons (13-1, 7-1) enter the Southwestern A contest looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season, a 55-41 defeat Saturday at Hamilton. Junior Braden Harrington averages 13.2 points per game pace the Maroons, who beat Dillon 45-43 Jan. 4 in Butte. Senior Cade Holter adds 12.6 points per game to BC’s balanced lineup.

Dillon (9-5, 4-3) needs a win to remain in third place in the Southwestern A. Michael Havrefield averages 18.1 points per game to lead the Beavers.

Girls prep basketball
Butte Central at Dillon, 7:30 p.m.

The Maroons (6-8, 5-3) will also go for the regular-season sweep of the Beavers in the nightcap. BC beat Dillon 34-29 in the Jan. 4 meeting at the MAC.

Tricia Joyce averages 10.9 points per game to lead the Maroons. Emma Keeley, who averages 9.1 points per game, is coming off a career-high 24-point performance in Saturday’s home loss to Hamilton. Freshman Sofee Thatcher adds 7.7 points and 7.4 rebounds to the lineup.

Josey Jones averages 12.3 points per game for the Beavers, who snapped a three-game losing streak with a 40-32 home win over Frenchtown on Saturday.

Women’s college basketball
Montana Tech at Lewis-Clark State College, 6:30 p.m.

The Orediggers (12-2) make their second trip to Lewiston, Idaho, to take on the Warriors (16-5, 6-4) this season. Lewis-Clark State won the Frontier Conference first meeting 82-58 on Nov. 29.

Abbie Johnson and Jossilyn Blackman each scored 21 points to lead the Warriors in that win. Freshman Dani Urick scored 18 for the Orediggers.

Tech is coming off Tuesday’s 70-57 home loss to Montana Western. Kaylee Zard’s 11 points and 10 rebounds led Tech in that game. Hailey Crawford and Mollie Peoples also scored 11 points.

Men’s college basketball
Montana Tech at Lewis-Clark State College, 8:30 p.m.

The Orediggers (15-8, 5-6) get second chance at the Warriors (16-6, 5-5) in the Frontier Conference battle in Lewiston, Idaho.

Derrick White scored 11 points, and Dana Abe tossed in 10 as the Warriors beat the Orediggers 60-42 Nov. 29 in Lewiston. Taylor England’s 14 points led the Orediggers.

Tech beat Montana Western 84-68 Tuesday in Butte. Nate Ward sank four 3-pointers and scored 19 points to lead four Orediggers in double figures in the win. England and Troy Owens Jr. each scored 13, while Dylan Pannabecker tossed in 12.
