Thursday’s Hot Ticket: Diggers, Dogs, Maroons

Women’s college basketball
Montana Tech at University of Providence, 5 p.m.
The No. 16 Argos await the Orediggers in the Frontier Conference game in the McLaughlin Center.

Providence enters the game at 23-3 overall and 7-1 in conference. Tech is 11-12 and 2-6. The Argos beat Tech 66-52 Jan. 8 in Great Falls. Parker Esary scored 26 points to lead Providence. Emilee Maldanodo scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Tavia Rooney scored 14, and Mollie Peoples tossed in 13 for Tech.

Men’s college basketball
Montana Tech at University of Providence, 7 p.m.

The No. 20 Orediggers hit the road for the first time as a ranked team.

Tech is 18-5 overall and 7-1 in conference, while Providence is 10-10 and 2-6. Tech beat Providence 76-66 Jan. 8 in Great Falls. Caleb Bellach scored 15 points to lead five Orediggers in double figures in that win. Sindou Diallo and Taylor England scored 14 points apiece. Taylor joined Bellach with nine boards.

Brendan Howard’s 16 points led the Argos. Marcus Stephens scored 15.

Prep boys’ basketball
Butte High at Helena, 7:15 p.m.

The Bulldogs hit the road looking to bounce back from Tuesday’s loss to Helena Capital.

Butte High is 2-8 overall and 2-4 in the Western AA. Helena is 3-5 and 2-2 after Friday’s lopsided loss to Capital.

Central at Corvallis, 7:15 p.m.
Central jumps back into Southwestern A play when they hit the road to take on the Blue Devils.

The Maroons are 10-1 overall and xx in conference after Tuesday’s 67-40 non-conference win over Livingston. Corvallis is 2-10 and 1-4 after Tuesday’s 61-27 at Dillon loss at Dillon.

Prep girls’ basketball
Helena at Butte High, 7 p.m.

The Richardson Gym will be the site as the Bulldogs take on the Bengals in the Western AA game.

Butte High enters at 5-5 overall and 2-4 in league play after Tuesday’s 48-41 loss at Helena Capital. The Bengals are 5-3 and 2-2 after knocking off Capital 48-39 last week.

Corvallis at Butte Central, 6 p.m.
The Maroons are back at home for the Southwestern A game that gets an early start.

BC Central is 6-5 overall and 6-1 in league play after Tuesday’s 47-28 win at Livingston. The Blue Devils are 1-12 and 0-7 after Tuesday’s 69-33 home loss to Dillon.

Prep wrestling
Butte Central at Frenchtown, 5 p.m.

Central’s lone wrestler, James Holmes, will be on the road for an event that came after a schedule change. He ill head to Boulder on Thursday before going to the Western A Divisional Feb. 5 in Frenchtown.
