Thursday’s Hot Ticket: Cross country, State golf

Prep golf — State AA tournament in Bozeman, noon
A noon start is targeted Thursday as the best Class AA golfers compete at Cottonwood Hills Golf Club. Potential frost is the reason for the late start on Day 1 of the 36-hole tournament.

Butte High senior Kodie Hoagland and junior Jack Prigge head to State as Western AA Divisional champs. They claimed those titles last week in Missoula.

Hoagland is looking to complete her career with at least her fourth straight All-State performance (Top 15). She is the lone holdover from Butte High’s divisional champion team of 2020, but the Bulldogs still qualified as a team for the tournament. Hoagland will be joined at State by freshman Dyllan Bartoletti, Kendyllen Lean and Taylor Sullivan.

Prigge is missed last year’s State tournament because of a COVID-19 quarantine. He will be joined at state by Butte High freshman Brenner Booth, who earned all-conference recognition by tying for 15th place last week.

A schedule change so the Butte High runners can attend Friday’s homecoming football game sends the Bulldogs to the Bitterroot Valley.

The Bulldogs, who are coming off a solid performance in last week’s Butte Invitational will be the lone Class AA team at the meet. They will run against Corvallis, Darby, East Helena, Frenchtown, Hamilton, Lincoln, Ronan and Stevensville.
