Thursday’s Hot Ticket: Central, Tech hoops

Hamilton at Butte Central, 7:15 p.m.

The Maroon Activities Center will set the scene for a mammoth Southwestern A showdown.

Defending Southwestern A champion Hamilton rolls to town with a 5-1 overall record. The Broncs are 1-0 in the Southwestern A after a 93-66 Dec. 11 win at Corvallis.

Hamilton is coming off Tuesday’s 82-53 home win over Ronan. Tanner Goligoski scored 28 points in the win. He averages 26.1 points per game.

Central is 5-0 after Tuesday’s 65-41 home win over Belgrade. Senior Cade Holter scored 15 points to lead four Maroons in double figures in the win. Braden Harrington scored 12 points, while Dylan Sestrich tossed in 11, and Trevor Neumann scored 10.

The Maroons close out their pre-Christmas schedule on the road for the Southwestern A game.

Central is 1-4 and coming off Tuesday’s 48-41 home loss to Belgrade. Junior Emma Keeley scored 14 points to lead BC in that game. Maddie Kump tossed in nine points, Tricia Joyce scored eight and Sofee Thatcher netted seven. Joyce scored 21 points in Saturday’s 40-30 win over Stevensville.

Hamilton is 2-4 after Tuesday’s 28-23 win at Ronan. The Broncs lost their only conference game, falling 56-41 at Dec. 11 at Corvallis.

Women’s college basketball
Montana Tech at University of Montana, 7 p.m.

The Orediggers (10-3) hit the road for the exhibition game against the Grizzlies.

Tech is coming off Tuesday’s 101-24 non-conference win against the Salish Kootenai College. Mollie Peoples scored a career-high 24 points in that win. Mesa Williams added 22, while Shay Potter and Dani Urick followed with 20 and 19.

The Griz are 5-4 after Sunday’s 79-77 win over Saint Francis in Seattle. Junior guard McKenzie Johnston averaged 11.5 points per game to lead Montana. Emma Stockholm, a 6-foot-2 junior forward, adds 10.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
