The Bulldogs hit the road for a non-conference doubleheader against the Panthers.
Butte High is looking to rebound from Saturday’s season-opening loss to Billings Senior as they face a familiar opponent. The Bulldogs and Panthers have developed a recent rivalry. This will be the first time the teams meet as Class AA foes.
Belgrade is in its second year as a Class AA school. This, however, is the first spring sports in Montana’s top level. The Panthers won the state title in each of their last three years in Class A.
Frontier Conference playoffs: Montana Tech at Rocky Mountain College, 7 p.m.
The Orediggers face a tall task when they take on the Battlin’ Bears at the Fortin Center.
Tech (9-10) advanced to the semifinals with Tuesday’s four-set victory over Montana Western at home. At 16-3 overall and 15-3 in conference, Rocky is the No. 2 seed in the tournament. The Bears received a first-round bye.
Rocky swept the four-game regular season with the Orediggers, knocking off Tech in four sets in each match.
Top-seeded University of Providence (18-2) will host MSU-Northern (3-18) in the other semifinal. The Skylights upset Carroll College Tuesday in Helena.
