Thursday’s Hot Ticket

Following is a rundown of Butte sports action on tap for Thursday, Nov. 1.

College Volleyball
Montana Tech at Montana Western, 7 p.m.
The Orediggers hit the road for the final time of the 2012 season. Montana Tech plays at Westminster College on Saturday. The Orediggers (17-9, 7-7) are aiming for their fourth straight win and their seventh out of eight. Tech beat Western (10-16, 5-9) in five games Sept. 6 in Butte. The Orediggers also knocked off the Bulldogs in four games in a non-conference game Aug. 21 in Dillon. The Frontier Conference tournament is next week in Butte.

Prep Volleyball
Butte Central at Southwestern A Divisional
The Maroons open their quest for a berth in the State tournament at 8 p.m. when they take on Dillon at the Dale Berry Court in Hamilton. The winner plays Anaconda at 1 p.m. Friday. BC (8-4, 7-3) tied for first in the Southwestern A, but are the No. 3 seed because of tiebreakers. Anaconda is No. 2, while Corvallis is No. 1. The Beavers (4-11, 2-8) are No. 6. Butte Central swept the season series with the Beavers, including a five-game win in Dillon.

Butte High at Billings Skyview, 6 p.m.
It’s win or go home for the Butte High volleyball team as the Bulldogs hit the road for the Eastern AA playoff match. The winner advances to next week’s Class AA State tournament in Bozeman. Skyview (19-9, 8-4) swept the season series with the Bulldogs (9-14, 2-10), including a 3-0 win last week in Billings.

Men’s College Basketball
Montana Tech at Idaho State, 7:05 p.m

The Orediggers face a tough test in the exhibition game at Idaho State of the Big Sky Conference. The Orediggers (1-0) opened the season Friday with a 78-68 win over South Dakota Tech.
