Following is a rundown of local sports action on the docket for Thursday, Sept. 20
Prep Volleyball
Butte Central at Stevensville, 7 p.m.
An injury-plagued BC squad (2-2 overall, 2-1 in conference) jumps back into Southwestern A play Thursday in a key match against the Yellowjackets. BC is trying to bounce back from Tuesday’s four-game home loss to Livingston. Senior hitter Danee Leary paced the Maroons with 18 kills and 17 digs in that match.
Dillon at Butte High, 7 p.m.
Butte High returns to the Richardson Gym looking to build on Tuesday’s win at CMR when the Bulldogs take on the Beavers in a non-conference tilt. Carlie Haeffner’s 10 kills and nine blocks and Sammy McGree’s 15 digs led the Butte High charge Tuesday as the Bulldogs improved to 2-3 in league play.
Prep golf
Butte High at Bozeman, 11 a.m.
The Butte High golf teams head to Bozeman for a tournament one week after strong showings at the Butte High Invitational. Play starts at 11 a.m. Thursday. The boys play at the Valley View Golf Course, while the girls play at the Riverside Country Club. Friday’s rounds start at 9 a.m. at the Bridger Creek Golf Course.
With junior Hailey Hoagland leading the way, the Butte High girls won their home meet. Hoagland won medalist honors, while teammate Shealyn Hafer placed second. Bulldog Hailey Ogolin took eighth.
Butte’s boys placed third with Mike Jankovich and David Starcevich leading the way. The teammates tied for fourth place.
