Eastern AA playoff series: Butte High at Billings West, 1 p.m.
The Bulldogs hit the road for the best-of-three playoff series with the Golden Bears. Butte High, which finished the regular season at 7-14 overall and 5-7 in conference play, swept the two conference games with the Bears. Overall, the Bulldogs took three out of four games with West in the regular season.
In other Eastern AA playoff series, Bozeman will play at Great Falls High, while Billings Senior plays at Billings Skyview. Great Falls Russell earned a bye to the Class AA State tournament, which is next week in Kalispell.
Butte Central at Stevensville, 4 p.m.
The Maroons (14-3, 7-0) will get in a final tune up before next week’s Class A State tournament in Belgrade. The game is a makeup of an earlier rainout. The Maroons long ago wrapped up the Southwestern A title and the No. 1 seed at State. They are coming off a 3-1 performance at their annual LaVerne Combo Invitational.
Butte High at State AA in Great Falls
Hannah Amtmann is the lone representative of Butte High when the two-day meet opens. Amtmann placed second at the Southern A Divisional meet last week in Helena. She opens against Casey Nelson of Missoula Big Sky. (Bracket)
Western A Divisional in Hamilton and Corvallis
Butte Central’s tennis teams head to the Bitterroot Valley looking to qualify for the Class A State tournament, which is next week in Bozeman and Livingston.
Longtime doubles partners Ali Guldseth and Kellsie Quinn take the No. 1 seed to the tournament for the Maroons. Sierra Pica and Ryan Trudnowski will play together, while Larysa Blavatsky will team with Samantha Burton. Sarah Drew, Zoe Sullivan, Tricia Joyce and Emily St. John will play singles for the BC girls.
On the boys’ side, Sam Sterns and Cameron Johnson will team up looking for a State berth. Cal Hollow and Sam Joyce joined forces late in the season, while Sam Johnston will pair with Aidan Petritz. Tyge Yelenich, Tyler Kump, Zach Luebeck and Jake McPherson will play singles.
Butte Miners at Bozeman Bucks (9 innings), 6 p.m.
The Butte Miners (3-7) will hit the road for a non-conference game with the Bucks. Butte is coming off Sunday’s doubleheader road split with the Missoula Mavericks.
