The Orediggers (7-5  Frontier and 14-10 overall) could all but clinch a home playoff game with a win over the Battlin’ Bears (5-7, 8-14) at the HPER Complex. The Orediggers beat Rocky 66-56 Jan. 11 in Billings. Mandy Machinal scored 17 points to lead four Orediggers in double figures in that win. Dannii Devenny scored 15. Brittany Myers scored 13 to lead the Bears. Butte High graduate Kalli McCloskey scored nine. The Orediggers split with MSU-Northern and Lewis-Clark State College last week while playing without Kelsey DeWit, who averages 12.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, and key reserve Lisa Laslovich. Tech coach Kerie DePell said she was hopeful both will return this week. Tech plays host to Dickinson State Friday.

It’s definitely must-win time for the Orediggers (5-7 and 14-12), who are fighting for their playoff lives. Tech sits in seventh place in the Frontier Conference standings, and the Orediggers will likely have to finish above the sixth-place Bears (6-6, 15-11) to make the playoffs. Only the top six teams play in the postseason.  Rocky roughed up the Orediggers 78-52 Jan. 11 in Billings. Joel Barndt scored 15 points to lead four Bears in double figures in that game. Adam Greger averages just under 19 points per game to lead the Orediggers, who dropped home games to MSU-Northern and Lewis-Clark State last weekend. Bryan Bock scores 13.3 points per game, while Daniel Simon adds just under 10 points and seven rebounds to the lineup. Tech plays host to Dickinson State Friday.
