Following is a rundown of Butte sports on tap for Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Prep Boys’ Basketball
Helena Capital at Butte High, 7:30 p.m.

The Ross J. Richardson Memorial Gymnasium will be the site as the Bulldogs (1-1) jump back into action against the Bruins (0-1). Butte High beat Belgrade last week before falling at Helena High. Juniors Peter Granger and Dallas Cook lead Butte High in scoring, both averaging more than 15 points per game after the first week. Bryan Smith and Cory Farstveet scored in double figures against Helena. The Bruins got 13 from Carson Dummer in last week’s season-opening loss to Great Falls High.

Butte Central at Stevensville, 7:30 p.m.
The Maroons (1-1) open Southwestern A play on the road against a team with high aspirations. Butte Central is coming off two games against tough competition at their tournament last weekend. Brady Tippett averaged 24 points as BC beat Browning before dropping a tough game against Laurel. Nate Bolstad scored 10 points in both games. Zach Gavlak scored a total of 41 points to lead Stevensville (2-0) as the Yellowjackets cruised past Frenchtown and Libby at a tipoff tournament last weekend. The Yellowjackets beat Butte Central in the semifinals of the divisional tournament last year on their way to the Class A State tournament.

Prep Girls’ Basketball
Butte High at Helena Capital, 7:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs (2-0) look to build on a strong first week as they head to Helena for the non-conference game against the Bruins (1-0). Hailey Hoagland (13.5 points), Natalee Faupel (12.5) and Sammy McGree (10.5) are averaging in double digits scoring after the Bulldogs rolled to wins over Belgrade and Helena High. Capital is 1-0 after winning at Great Falls High last week. Sadie Pilgeram scored 11 and Julia Anderson tossed in 10 in that win.

Stevensville at Butte Central, 7:30 p.m.
A big-time game is in store at the Maroon Activities Center as the Yellowjackets come to town for a rematch of last season’s divisional challenge game in Anaconda. The Maroons (2-0) were impressive in their tipoff tournament last week, routing Browning before edging contender Laurel in a hard-fought battle. Danee Leary (13.5), Danika Neumann (12) and Alysea Pica (11) average in double figures scoring after that quick start. Stevensville (2-0) edged Frenchtown before rolling past Libby in a tipoff tournament last weekend. Alycia Sims, a 6-foot-3 future Montana Grizzly, scored 18 points in both wins.
