Thursday Hot Ticket: Bulldog, Maroon tennis

Class AA State tournament in Kalispell

Butte High senior doubles players Destiny Soennichsen and Keeley Pochervina will begin their quest for a state title on Thursday. Play begins at 8 a.m.

The Butte duo, which placed third in the Southern AA Divisional meet last week in Bozeman, opens play against Missoula Hellgate’s Kate Koenig and Maya Hefferman. (Bracket)

Soennichsen is making her second appearance in the big dance. Pochervina is at state for the first time.

Butte Central at divisionals in Hamilton and Corvallis
Action begins at 10 a.m. as the Maroons hunt berths in next week’s Class A State tournament in Polson. The time was moved up a few hours because of expected rain.

The top four individuals and doubles teams move one.

The Maroons will send Manuel Gonzalez, David Innerarity-Granell, Hunter Hartwick and Theron Nelson in boys’ singles. Cameron Johnson and Guido Ossello will look to book a return trip to state in boys’ doubles. Shane Callahan will team with Colby Kline, while Logan Harrington will play with Noah McGee

On the girls’ side, BC will send Tricia Joyce, Zoe Sullivan, Samantha Burton and Savannah Healy in singles. Shea Davis and Prestynn Weldon hold down BC’ top spot in girls’ doubles. Tess Riordan will play with Sophie Sullivan, and freshman Delaney Hasquet will team up with classmate Avery Kelly.
