Thunderblades down South Dakota, move to 2-0

DALLAS — Ryan Thompson scored two goals to lead the way this morning as the Montana Thunderblades improved to 2-0 at the Tier II U16 1A national hockey tournament with a 3-1 over South Dakota. Stats

The game was a rematch of last year’s championship game, which was also won by the Montana team that includes Butte’s Ethan Cooney and Kody Chamberlain.

The Thunderblades play Wyoming on Saturday, and the top two teams from each pool advance to Sunday’s semifinals. The championship game is Monday.

The tournament is being played on the ice of the Dr. Pepper StarCenter, home of the NHL Dallas Stars.
