The road to a repeat starts with one foot in front of the other, one game at a time

Butte Central is ready to make their run and defend their title starting at 1:30 pm tomorrow VS Columbia Falls who beat Havre in a play in game in overtime this past weekend. Tip of is in Bozeman at the MSU campus, home of the Bobcats, Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

While the Maroons are looking to repeat the other competition is looking to make sure there is no such rematch between Fergus and Butte. Hamilton, Frenchtown, Dillon, all names that can upset both Central and Livingston in the big dance. This tournament will be jam packed with great games and we are here for it!

Centrals only loss came at the beginning of the year in a rematch of last year’s title game, since then the Maroons cruised to 17 straight in the regular season and won another divisional tournament in Ronan a couple of weeks ago.

With a week off the Maroons are healthy and ready to make another run starting with Columbia Falls.

Dougie Peoples led the Class A in scoring once again and the senior is eager to get cooking and make another run at a state championship. The supporting cast is a good one too and will most certainly be needed to lighten Dougies workload, he scored 75 points in the final two games at divisonals.

Butte Central history will also be made tomorrow as Josh Sutton will be the first 8th grader to play on varsity in the State Tournament. Josh is a great contributor and can really shoot the ball.

Repeating is no easy task at any level, the Dillon Beavers and Frenchtown Broncs showed that in the divisional tournament and made Central work for every bit of success they had. It’s a tall task to repeat but if anyone can do it its Butte Central, they are well coached and led by Brodie Kelly in his 19th season at the helm doing what only some of us can dream of doing as a high school coach.

Butte Sports will be covering the games so follow us on Facebook and Twitter for score updates and stories to follow the games as stats become available.
