Thatcher’s 24 not enough for Bears at Western

DILLON — A 24-point performance by Butte Central graduate Kloie Thatcher was not enough for the Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears Saturday night.

The defending NAIA national champion Montana Western women’s basketball team saw four players score in double figures, and the Bulldogs beat Rocky 63-56 in a Frontier Conference game at the Straugh Gymnasium. (Stats)

Shannon Worster scored eight of her 17 points from the free throw line to lead the Bulldogs, who improved to 14-7 overall and 7-3 in conference. Brynley Fitzgerald added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Savanna Bignell scored 12. Gracey Meyer netted 10 in the win.

Thatcher, a sophomore guard, hit five 3-pointers on the night for the Bears (14-7, 5-5). Markeaela Francis added 12 points and nine rebounds.
