Western women bow out of NAIA tournament
BILLINGS — Kloie Thatcher had a huge game Saturday night, and the Rocky Mountain College women’s basketball team is moving on to the second round.
Thatcher scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Battlin Bears to a 63-44 over Reinhart in the opening round of the 2022 NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championship at the Fortin Center. (Stats)
The Butte Central graduate also grabbed six rebounds, dished two assists and collected two steals as Rocky improved to 27-4 on the season.
Rocky will take on Dakota State University at 5 p.m. Saturday in Billings. The winner of that game advances to the final site of the tournament in Sioux City, South Iowa.
N’Dea Flye added 17 points and 11 rebounds for Rocky. Shauna Bribiescas scored 12 points and grabbed 10 boards. Gracee Lekvold scored eight.
Abi Haynes and Catherine Shope each scored 12 points to lead Reinhardt, which ends the season at 20-14.
Science and Arts 78, Montana Western 67

Milagros Carrera and Lainey Morrow each scored 15 points to lead five Drovers in double figures scoring in the win. Jordan Bloomfield scored 14, while Zaria Dorsey tossed in 12, and Tori James scored 11.
Western led 22-17 after the first quarter, but Science and Arts took control with a 24-9 second quarter.
Brynley Fitzgerald scored 30 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Bulldogs in the losing effort. Shainey Mack scored 12 points, while Lilly Gopher tossed in eight, and Joelnell Momberg scored seven.
Western closes the season at 15-14.
