BILLINGS — Rocky Mountain College claimed a share of the league regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in next week’s Frontier Conference women’s basketball tournament Thursday night.
Butte Central graduate Kloie Thatcher poured in 28 points to lead the way as the Battlin’ Bears beat Montana Western 79-54 at the Fortin Center. (Stats)
Rocky (24-4 overall) shares the regular-season title with the University of Providence at 12-3. The Argos beat Carroll College 93-92 in double overtime Thursday in Great Falls. Rocky takes the top seed with the tiebreaker.
Thatcher scored 25 points in the first half as the Bears took a 45-28 lead. She also collected five steals in the win.
Shauna Bribiescas scored 15 points for Rocky, and Mackenzie Dethman tossed in 10. N’Dea Flye added nine points and eight rebounds, and Gracee Lekvold tossed in eight points.
Lilly Gopher scored 13 points to lead the Bulldogs. Brynley Fitzgerald added 12, and Natali Denning netted 11.
The Bears earned a first-round bye in the Frontier playoffs. Western will play host to Montana Tech on Wednesday.
