Butte Central’s Kloie Thatcher, Mollie Peoples and Kelcie Thatcher took home top honors when the postseason softball awards were announced this week.

Kloie Thatcher and Peoples were named first-team Class A All-State, while Kelci Thatcher received the Southwestern A Coach of the Year Award.

In all, nine members of the BC team received accolades.

Juniors Teresa Piazzola, McKenzie Gallagher and Shawnee Hjelt and sophomore Emily St. John received second-team all-conference honors. The team didn’t specify position, but Piazzola and Gallagher clearly made the team as pitchers, while St. John played outfield and Hjelt switched from second base to outfield midway through the season.

Sophomore catcher Corbyn Holm and freshman third baseman Megan Michelotti each received an all-conference honorable mention.

During the regular season, Kloie Thatcher, a freshman, batted .431. She moved from center field to shortstop to shore up the BC infield midway through the season. That was key in BC’s late-season run to the regular-season conference title.

Peoples, a sophomore first baseman, hit .296 with six doubles. She saved her best for last, catching fire late in the season.

Kelci Thatcher is BC’s third-year head coach. She guided the Maroons to a 17-11 record as the Maroons came within six outs of playing on Saturday of the Class A State tournament.
