BELGRADE — Sofee Thatcher’s two home runs were not enough to carry the Army team past Navy in the championship game of the 9^th Annual Veterans Memorial Softball Classic.

Navy beat Army, which included Thatcher and soon-to-be Butte High sophomore Ashlinn Mullaney, in the championship game of the tournament that featured some of the best high school players in the state.

Thatcher, a recent Butte Central graduate, went 3 for 4 with the two jacks and three RBIs in the championship game. Mullaney went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.

Army beat Air Force 8-0 and 6-4 before taking down the Marines 6-2 to advance to the championship game. Thatcher hit two doubles in the 6-4 win over the Air Force.
