Butte Central graduate Kloie Thatcher poured in 21 points to lead the way as Rocky’s women’s basketball team bounced back from Saturday’s loos to knock off Montana Tech 69-61 in a Frontier Conference game at the HPER Complex. (Stats)
The win was the first in four tries for the Bears, who saw three players score in double figures against an Oredigger team missing injured sophomore Tavia Rooney.
Grace Parker added 19 points and 13 rebounds for Rocky, which overcame a 38-32 halftime deficit with a 24-13 third quarter. Shauna Bribiescas scored 14. Thatcher added three assists, three rebounds and a steal.
Dani Urick led the Orediggers in scoring for the second straight game. She scored 18 points. Meassa Williams scored nine for Tech, Soda Rice tossed in seven, and Brooke Heggie, Madison Allen, Aubrie Rademacher and Celestina Faletoi each scored six.
Mollie Peoples scored three points and dished out three assists for Tech.
Less than 24 hours after being dominated on the glass by the Orediggers, Rocky won the battle of the boards 39-28.
Next up for the Orediggers is a trip to Havre next Saturday and Sunday to take on MSU-Northern. Rocky will play the University of Providence in Great Falls.
