Tech’s Sydney Parks named Frontier top defender

WHITEFISH — Sydney Parks took home her first Frontier Conference honors of the season today.

The league announced the Volleyball Players of the Week awards, and Parks was selected Defender of the Week.

Parks is a 6-foot-3 senior middle blocker from Post Falls, Idaho. She helped No. 17 Montana Tech go 2-2 at the Grand View Women’s Volleyball Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa.

Parks controlled the net as a middle blocker recording three solo blocks and had 14 assisted blocks on the weekend.

The Orediggers beat (RV) Ottawa University (Kan.) 3-2 and No. 20 Columbia College (Mo.) 3-2; and lost to No. 2 Viterbo University (Wis) 3-1 and No. 24 Grand View (Iowa) 3-0.

Montana Tech travels to Great Falls this Friday to take on the Argos at the McLaughlin Center at 7 p.m.
