WHITEFISH — Montana Tech’s Drake Schlachter was named the Frontier Conference Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the school announced today.
Montana Tech competed in its first indoor meet of the season last week at the Bobcat Challenge hosted by Montana State in Bozeman. Schlachter, a freshman from Penn Valley, California, participated in his first career meet for the Orediggers.
Schlachter won the long jump with a distance of 6.69 meters or 21 feet, 11 ½ inches. The mark was a foot and half more than his previous personal best.
Schlachter’s mark bested the other competition at the meet that included NCAA Division I and II opponents.
