Tech’s Cline, Bowden, King honored

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Volleyball Scholar-Athletes Friday. Of the 408 student athletes on the list, three were from Montana Tech. Shersteen Cline, Jesse Bowden and Kirstin King received the honor.

In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify.

All three Orediggers were seniors on this year’s team and the only volleyball student-athletes that were eligible to receive the award based on academic status.

Shersteen Cline, a 5foot-11 outside hitter, received the award last year as well. Cline was also selected First Team All-Conference this season.

Your info is incorrect – it was Phelan not Cline that was honored!
