Tech’s Benson, Ramsbacher tied for 13th in Oregon

SALEM, Oregon — Montana Tech golfers Sean Benson and Sean Ramsbacher find themselves in an eight-way tie for 13th place after the first round of the Corban Spring Invitational at the Creekside Golf Club.

Both Orediggers shot a 1-over-par 71 to open the three-round tournament. The second round was delayed by rain, so the men will finish the second round Tuesday morning before playing the final round.

Montana Tech shot a 13-over-par 296 in the first round, putting the Orediggers in eighth place. British Columbia leads the way at 273. Oregon Tech is second at 282, while host Corban University is third at 287.

Ethan DeGraff of British Columbia leads the way at 66. He is one shot better than Mayson Tibbs of Oregon Tech. Four players are tied at 68.

Jimmy Amundson shot a 75 for the Orediggers. Trey Hoagland hit 79, and Bridger Martin shot 83.

On the women’s side, the Orediggers sit in ninth place after a first-round 376. British Columbia tops the team standings at 291. Oregon Tech is third at 303, while Rocky Mountain College and Lewis-Clark State are tied for third at 311.

Esther Lee of British Columbia shot a 70 to take the first-round lead. She is one shot better than teammate Kate Johnson.

Lynzee Dexter’s 89 led the Orediggers in Round 1. Hailey Ogolin shot a 94 for Tech, while Tanna Campbell shot 96, Kelsey Parker shot a 97, and Ashton McCloskey hit a 98.
