Tech women take on Western Tuesday

The regular season is now complete. Only the top six teams have qualified for the conference playoffs.

On the women’s side, Westminster College finished first with a record of 13-1 and will be the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Carroll College finished second with a 13-3 record. Both Westminster and Carroll College receive first round byes in the playoffs.

Montana Tech finished third with a 9-7 record, Montana State-Northern (8-8) is fourth, Rocky Mountain and Montana Western finished at 7-9 but the tie-breaker gives Rocky the fifth seed and Western the sixth seed. Dickinson State, Lewis-Clark State and the University of Great Falls did not qualify for the playoffs.

The first round of the women’s playoffs begin Tuesday.. No. 3 Montana Tech will host No. 6 Montana Western and No. 4 MSU-Northern hosts No. 5 Rocky Mountain. On Friday, in the semi-finals, top seeded Westminster College will host the lowest remaining seed and No. 2 Carroll College will host the highest remaining seed.

The semi-final winners will play for the championship at the highest remaining seed on Monday, March 4.

On the men’s side, the top six teams qualifying for the playoffs were in order of finish, Lewis-Clark State, Montana Western, Montana State-Northern, Westminster College, Rocky Mountain and the University of Great Falls. Carroll College, Dickinson State and Montana Tech did not qualify.

Lewis-Clark (LCSC) finished with a conference record of 11-4 and will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming playoffs. Montana Western finished at 11-5 for second. Both LCSC and Montana Western will receive first round byes.

The first round of the men’s playoffs begin Wednesday.  No. 6 University of Great Falls (8-8) will play No. 3 Montana State-Northern (10-6) and No. 5 Rocky Mountain (9-7) travels to No. 4 Westminster College (9-6).

On Saturday, in the conference semi-finals, top seeded Lewis-Clark State will host the lowest remaining seed and No. 2 Montana Western will host the highest remaining seed.

The semi-final winners will play for the championship at the highest remaining seed on Tuesday, March 5.
