Tech women sit in sixth, men in 10th in Nevada

HENDERSON, Nev. — The Montana Tech men’s and women’s golf teams opened the spring season Tuesday at the Rocky Mountain College Intercollegiate at Reflection Bay Golf Club.

The Oredigger men are in 10th place after the first day and the women are in sixth place.

Tech’s women fired a 376 on the first day, and the men shot 324. (Men’s results; women’s results)

Embry-Riddle (Arizona) leads the men’s race at 294. Lewis-Clark State is tied for second with the Master’s University and Wayland Baptist at 296. The field includes 12 teams.

Eric Marin of The Masters fired a 2-under-par 70 to take the lead at the midway point of the tournament.  Five players are tied for second at 72.

Sean Ramsbacher led the Orediggers with a 75. Matt Hobbs hit a 79.

Embry Riddle took the women’s lead at 326, which is five shots better than second-place UB Okanagan.

Kendall McBean of Embry Riddle leads the individual race at 75.Valentina Zuleta of Rocky Mountain is second at 78.

Franchi Ceartin’s 88 paced the Orediggers. Tech’s Samantha Benson and Cierra Sundeim shot 95. Kennedy Lean hit 99.
