Montana Tech head women’s basketball coach Kerie DePell announced the opening of registration for the 18th Annual Peggy Sarsfield Hoops Weekend. Every year the Orediggers put on a youth 3 on 3 tournament and clinic.
The Peggy Sarsfield is a two-day tournament on Nov. 23-24. There are three age divisions for girls and boys. The divisions are third and fourth, fifth and sixth, and seventh and eighth grades. Game times are 8-12 p.m. each day.
Every participant receives a tournament t-shirt and free admission to the Lady Digger Basketball game against Marygrove College of Detroit, Michigan on Friday night. During the Marygrove game, there will be a free throw contest for all kids wearing their tournament shirt.
All games will be supervised by Montana Tech women’s basketball coaches and officiated by women’s basketball players.
The winning teams will receive a unique champion drawstring bag. In addition, the winning team from each division will have the opportunity to sit on the bench and join the team for the locker room talks during a Lady Digger basketball game.
On Friday, there will be a 3 on 3 clinic from 2-3p.m. The clinic will teach skills and strategy for 3 on 3 basketball. The instructors include head coach DePell and her assistant Lindsie Wilson. The clinic is free for tournament participants or $15.
Registration forms, tournament rules and liability waivers can be found at www.godiggers.com under Camps & Clinics. Registration forms are due on Nov. 20.
