HAVRE — Montana Tech’s women’s basketball team completed a big-time road weekend Saturday night.
Hannah Sparks led the way with 16 points as the Orediggers knocked off MSU-Northern 71-59 in a Frontier Conference game. (Stats)
The win was the second road victory of the weekend for the Orediggers — Tech won at the University of Providence in Great Falls on Friday — and was the second over the Skylights this season.
Shay Potter added 12 points in the win, while Kourtney Coverdell and Kaylynn Coverdell each scored 11 points.
Mesa Williams scored nine for the Orediggers, who put the victory away by outscoring the Skylights 22-16 in the fourth quarter.
Tech also got five pints from Hailey Crawford, four from Kaylee Zard and three from Sammy McGree.
Kaylynn Coverdell pulled down a team-leading seven rebounds. Zard grabbed six boards.
Brandy Lambourne’s 14 points led four Skylights in double figures.
Kealani Sagapolu scored 14, while Peyton Filius sored 13, and Jessica Curl scored 10.
Tech moved to within a game of fourth place in the Frontier Conference at 3-5. The Orediggers are now 13-7 overall.
The Skylights fell to 1-7 and 9-11.
The Orediggers will be at home next weekend to take on Carroll College and Rocky Mountain College on Thursday and Friday.
