Tech women go pink for a cause

Montana Tech’s women’s basketball team is bringing flair to the court this Saturday. The Orediggers will sport pink uniforms when they host Lewis-Clark State College at 5:30 p.m. on Kelvin Sampson Court.

“Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women,” Tech head coach Carly VanDyke-Sanon said. “Coaching young women, I feel it is important to raise awareness of breast cancer not only among student-athletes but the community as well.”

The women’s basketball team is using the game to bring awareness of cancer and cancer research. They are encouraging fans to wear pink as well. Additional pink themed promotions are also planned for the game.

“Having a Pink Game brings awareness and shows support to all those affected by breast cancer,” VanDyke-Sanon said. “We are proud to donate the proceeds here locally.”

During the women’s game and the first half of the men’s game, the uniforms will be auctioned off as a silent auction. All proceeds from the uniforms will go to the St. James Foundation Cancer Research Center
