Tech, Western crack Top 25 football poll

Montana Tech and Montana Western have clearly gotten the attention the rest of the NAIA nation.

The Orediggers and Bulldogs both cracked the Top 25 in the latest NAIA Football Coaches Top 25 Poll, which was released today.

The poll is the first since the Aug. 10 preseason rankings.

The Orediggers, ranked for the first time since early in the 2013 season, received the No. 15 ranking after Saturday’s win over then-No. 4 Carroll College.

Western went from receiving votes to the No. 19 ranking after Saturday’s 24-20 thrilling victory over the College of Idaho.

Carroll fell three spots to No. 7, while Southern Oregon dropped from the top spot to No. 4. Marian (Ind.) is the new No. 1 team.

Eastern Oregon, Tech’s opponent on Saturday, received votes after being ranked No. 13 in the preseason poll.
