Tech volleyball still No. 17

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the fifth Women’s Volleyball Coaches Top 25 Poll Wednesday. Montana Tech stayed at No. 17 in the national poll.

The Orediggers (24-6, 9-3) won their last five Frontier Conference matches to claim the top seed in the Frontier Conference volleyball tournament. University of Providence remained at No. 19 and both Lewis-Clark State and Rocky Mountain College are receiving votes.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups. The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams in each conference.

Montana Tech earned a bye in the first round of the Frontier Conference Volleyball Tournament at the McLaughlin Center on the campus of the University of Providence in Great Falls, Mont. The Orediggers play a semifinal match on Saturday November 16th against the lowest remaining seed in the tournament at 11 a.m. The championship match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.

The Frontier Conference tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the 2019 NAIA National Tournament at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa Dec. 3-7.
