Tech volleyball goes 1-1 to open Nebraska tourney

BELLEVUE, Neb. — Montana Tech’s volleyball team won a match and lost a match Friday on the first day of the Gosarpy.com Labor Day Classic.

Tech beat Peru State 3-0 before falling 3-1 to Concordia University of Nebraska.

Maureen Jessop and Olivia Muir each tallied eight kills to lead Tech to a 25-9, 25-14, 25-17 victory over Peru State in the opener. (Stats)

Taylor Henley added seven kills, and McKenna Kaelber dished out 26 assists. Sarah Hopcroft collected 17 digs, and Jessop served five of Tech’s 13 aces.

Gabi Nordaker smacked 15 kills as Concordia downed the Orediggers 26-28, 25-19, 25-17, 25-22. (Stats)

Karina Mickelson’s 13 kills paced the Orediggers. Muir added 10 kills, while Kaelber dished out 33 assists, and Hopcroft registered 19 digs.

Tech will play two more matches Saturday, starting with a 10 a.m. tilt with Oklahoma City University.
