Tech Volleyball Defeats Rocky

BILLINGS, Mont. – No. 15 Montana Tech volleyball bounced back downing Rocky Mountain 3-1 to firm up their place on top of the Frontier Conference standings.

The Battlin’ Bears (16-14, 6-2) and the Orediggers (22-7, 7-1) both had just one conference loss going into the match.

The Orediggers jumped out early before the Bears kept the match alive by winning the third set. Tech needed a couple extra points to finish Rocky off in the fourth winning 25-20, 25-18, 20-25, 27-25.

Tech had the advantage on the attack leading Rocky 61-45 in kills. Both teams finished with 25 hitting errors. The Orediggers hit for .182 while the Bears finished with a .112.

Maureen Jessop led the Oredigger attack with 18 kills, eight digs, and a pair of blocks.

Olivia Muir and Kinnidi Willmore had 12 kills each and combined for just five hitting errors. Willmore had a .370 hitting percentage and Muir posted a .257.

Olivia LaBeau had eight kills and a team-high four blocks. LaBeau had no hitting errors finishing with an efficient .471 hitting percentage.

McKenna Kaelber had 47 assists and two blocks.

Olivia Caddy had 30 digs in the match.

MaKenna Bushman led the Bears with 19 kills and a .240 hitting percentage.

Ayla Embry had 28 digs. Blythe Sealey had 36 assists.

Tech volleyball put the cherry on top of a good Saturday for the Oredigger athletics going 3-0 for the day.

The Orediggers have one final road match at Montana Western Wednesday before wrapping up the regular season at home Friday against MSU-Northern.
