HAVRE — Montana Tech’s volleyball team wrapped up non-conference play with a pair of wins Saturday at the Frontier Conference Preview Tournament.
The Orediggers knocked off Montana Western 3-1 before sweeping past Carroll College for a 3-0 win. Tech went 3-1 on the tournament and is 12-3 on the season.
Tech opens Frontier Conference play next Friday when the University of Providence comes to town. The Argonauts are the only Frontier team the Orediggers did not play in the tournament.
Montana Tech 3, Montana Western 1 (Stats)
The Orediggers outkilled the Bulldogs 54-37 while picking up the 25-23, 25-13, 18-25, 25-21 win.
Taylor Henley led the way for the Orediggers with 13 kills. Karina Mickelson added 12, while Sydney Parks killed 10 and Olivia Muir and Maureen Jessop each tallied eight. McKenna Kaelber’s 43 assists ran Tech’s attack, and Sarah Hopcroft collected 26 digs.
Mickelson added 10 digs and three aces in the win. Hannah Oggerino chipped in with nine digs,
Jazi Smith’s 10 kills paced the Bulldogs. Kelsey Goddard dug up 25.
Montana Tech 3, Carroll College 0 (Stats)
Muir led the way with 11 kills as Tech closed out the big day with a 25-17, 2520, 25-16 win over the Saints.
Mickelson added six kills, while Henley, Jessop and Parks spiked six. Kaelber chalked up 29 assists, and Hopcroft dug 19. Jessup served four aces. Logan Reed added three.
Taelyr Krantz tallied 12 kills to lead the Saints. Julia Carr added 12 digs, and Kylie Kackman dished out 15 assists.
