Tech uses Long Range to Stay Undefeated

BUTTE, Mont. – No. 17 Montana Tech picked up their second victory at the Montana Tech Classic. The Oredigger use a flurry of threes running away from Dickinson State in the second half 82-71.

The Orediggers (6-0) won their fourth home game of the season and 16th straight going back to November of last season.

The Blue Hawks battled with the Orediggers the entire first half as the lead changed six times before the break. Tech took a 34-30 lead into halftime.

The Blue Hawks kept pace in the first half going 6 of 12 from three and shooting 40.7% from the field.

The Orediggers shot 38.9% of the field hitting 3 of 6 from three.

The Oredigger went on a 13-6 run to open the second half and a trio of threes starting with Chrishon Dixon. Asa Williams and Michael Ure followed as Tech went up 47-36 before the 17-minute mark.

Tech extended their lead with a 17-5 run that included four more three-pointers extending the lead to 76-54 with 7:56 left to play.

The Orediggers went 7 for 12 from three in the second half and finished going 10 for 18. Tech shot 55.2% from the field in the half.

Dickinson went 2 for 10 from three in the second half.

Ure led the Orediggers with 17 points going 3 for 5 from beyond the arc. Ure finished with nine rebounds including five offensive boards.

Caleb Bellach had 16 points hitting 2 of 3 from long.

Dixon went 3 for 5 from deep and with 11 points. Williams went 3 for 3 from three.

Hayden Diekhans had eight rebounds and seven points.

Tyce Dahlberg led the Blue Hawks with 13 points. Gus Wright had 10 points.

Montana Tech has their biggest challenge of the season next week. The Orediggers travel to No. 1 Arizona Christian (5-1) playing on their home court next Friday.
