The Montana Tech football team revealed its 2016 football schedule today.
The defending Frontier Conference champion Orediggers will open the season in hostile territory when they play Carroll College in Helena on Sept. 3.
The Saints are one of three teams the Orediggers will play two times in 2016. MSU-Northern and Rocky Mountain College are the other two. Carroll will play in Butte on Oct. 15.
The Tech home opener on the Bob Green Field at Alumni Coliseum is set for Sept. 10 when the Orediggers take on Northern. The Lights host the Diggers on October 22nd in Havre.
The Hall of Fame Awards Weekend is Sept. 17 when Rocky comes to town. Rocky plays host to the Orediggers on Oct. 29.
The Orediggers travel to La Grande, Oregon, on Sept. 24 for their only meeting with Eastern Oregon of the season. The 2016 season will be the first that the two teams met just once since 2005.
The Orediggers will celebrate homecoming on Oct. 8 when Montana Western comes to town.
The final home game of the season and Tech’s Senior Day is Nov. 5 when Tech takes on the College of Idaho.
Tech will head to Ashland, Oregon, for the final game of the season. The Raiders, who finished runner up in the NAIA playoffs, finished 2015 ranked No. 2 in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll.
The Orediggers, who finished at No. 7, went 10-2 last season, falling in the second round of the playoffs.
Spring practice starts the week of March 21. The Green and White Game will be held April 23. The annual Digger Athletic Association Auction is the same day as the scrimmage.
