Tech spikers win first two in Kansas

SALINA, Kansas — The Montana Tech volleyball team swept a pair of matches Saturday at the Kansas Wesleyan Labor Day Tournament.

The Orediggers beat McPherson College 25-8, 25-23, 25-21 before knocking off Friends University 25-15, 25-12, 25-14.

Sydney Norris spiked eight kills, while Haley Druyvestein and Bailie Cortner each tallied seven kills to lead the Orediggers’ balanced attack. Makenzie Bauck dished out 32 assists, while Angie Pancost collected 11 digs.

Against Friends, Jordan Danz tallied a team-leading nine kills. Cortner added eight, while Sydney Norris killed seven and Katie Wiley spiked six. Bauck dished 27 assists, and Pancost collected a team-best nine digs.

Tech, which is 9-2 on the season, will play Briar Cliff University and Kansas Wesleyan on Sunday.
