Tech spikers split on first day of tourney

HASTINGS, Neb. — Montana Tech’s volleyball team won one and lost one Saturday

The No. 20 Orediggers beat Peru State in four sets before falling in a five-set thriller to No. 19 Hastings College.

Jordan Danz tallied 18 kills to lead three Orediggers in double figures in that category as Tech beat Peru State 21-25, 25-13, 30-28, 25-19. Haley Druyvestein added 12 kills, while Sydney Norris spiked 11.

Angie Pancost collected 22 digs, while Makenzie Bauck dished up 52 assists and collected 14 digs.

Sage Meyer smacked 23 kills to pace Hastings in a 16-25, 30-28, 25-24, 26-24, 15-10 win over the Orediggers.

Danz hit 15 kills to pace the Orediggers. Norris killed 14, while Bailie Cortner killed 13. Bauck chipped in with 29 assists and 12 digs, while Pancost collected 22 digs.

Norris also had a big game defensively, posting 18 digs.

The 12-3 Orediggers play No. 4 Midland University Concordia University on Saturday.
